Publishing Your eZine – the Pros

Posted by Mahmood Bashash | Wednesday, August 05, 2009 | , | 0 comments »

There are several advantages publishing your own eZine can offer to you. Thus if the pros appeal to you, then publishing your own paperless newsletter can be ideal for you.

The most obvious reason publishing an eZine can be the most ideal business to you is that it is so easy to start that any individual can do. There is no need to invest in starting a brick and mortar business or even staff and heavy machines for that matter.

In fact, you can do this from the comfort of your home as the most important thing you will need is an auto responder equipped with broadcast feature. Auto responders such as GetResponse.com and aWeber.com are highly recommended when it comes to publishing your own eZine.

In spite of the low start up cost and monthly fees, you can make money from several profit centers within the spaces of your eZine issues. You can make money from selling advertising space, just to name one.

Most importantly, you get to build your own personal media and spread your marketing influence, making you more valuable to product and service owners thus do not be surprised if you receive Joint Venture proposals every so often.

Given some of the best reasons in the world of Internet Marketing, publishing your own periodical eZine can one of the best money vehicles you will ever acquire or even build.

Why Publish an eZine?

Posted by Mahmood Bashash | Wednesday, August 05, 2009 | 0 comments »

On the Internet, it is very possible to make money without selling any product. One way of doing so is through starting your own eZine, also known as an electronic newsletter.

In a nutshell, you send out your eZine issues on a periodical basis to your subscribers. The good part is that you have a flexible choice in automating the process of sending out your eZine issues for you or manually sending them on a periodical basis.

As an eZine publisher, not only can you easily achieve the benefits a conventional newsletter publisher enjoys without having to chop down several trees in the process, you can easily and conveniently spread your marketing influence and expertise to your base of subscribers from the shoes of an ordinary individual.

In other words, you do not have to invest in expensive printing equipment, brick and mortar business, and hiring staff just to run your own newsletter publication, resulting in a lot of time, money and effort saved.

Basically, all you need to start your own eZine are an auto responder and broadcast feature to go with, enabling you to reach out to your massive subscribers whom you can regard as your prospects, too.

All in all, if you do not have the commitments of creating your own product for sale, then publishing your own online newsletter can be one of the wisest decisions you will ever make, given the benefits of impressive marketing power and influence it can offer to you.

I recommend AWEBER for your newsletter and autoresponder system.

Why Should Law Firms Hire SEO Firms

Posted by Mahmood Bashaash | Monday, July 27, 2009 | , | 0 comments »

CEPACLaw.com/Kevin Quinlan/ 06/23/2009

Once you have decided to take your law firm’s destiny into your own hands and get serious about marketing on the Internet, it is time to consider joining forces with a professional SEO firm that can initiate and manage your online campaign.

SEO is absolutely essential to any site that has a long-term goal of generating new business. Every site must rely on some volume of free traffic to drive new business and the only way to get volumes of free traffic to your site is by having high rankings on the major search engines. For the long haul, organic search has a more level cost than pay-per-click and although the ramp up time may be a bit longer, more users select from the organic search results than from online ads. High rankings from carefully researched and highly competitive key words can generate a lot of unique visitors to your web site.

Many law firms are surprised at the cost to hire a professional SEO firm. To a large extent, that is because SEO is an intangible commodity when compared to creating TV spots or a web site, both of which result in a physically evident “product”. SEO is an extremely labor intensive process that requires constant monitoring and tweaks throughout the campaign.

Our firm starts with a complete analysis of your web site to ensure that the architecture, key words, tags and overall structure is consistent with Google’s guidelines to give the site the best chance to be crawled and highly indexed by the search engines. We re-engineer any flaws, provide recommendations that will improve usability, make directory submissions and begin the link building process. We offer proprietary newsroom platforms that act like blogs on steroids to create valuable content and link bait.

Google and the other major search engines constantly make minor adjustments to their algorithms so ranking can change slightly on a regular basis. There are also major updates done less frequently that can more dramatically affect the rankings of your site. The management of your site, the ongoing link building process, addition of new pages of content and the knowledge requisite to stay on top of the changing environment and maintain site rankings while competing with thousands of other sites is a major undertaking.

SEO is not a commodity and your selection should not be strictly a matter of who offers to do the work for the lowest price. There are scores of mediocre SEO firms that just seem to come and go. It is imperative to partner with a credible and ethical SEO company that has a proven track record of providing top page rank for other law firms practicing in your field of specialty. They should be able to offer both tangible results online and references from satisfied clients.

Remember, when you pay peanuts; you get monkeys.

Why are Wordpress Blogs so superior to BlogSpot/Blogger?

Posted by Mahmood Bashash | Monday, June 15, 2009 | , | 0 comments »

-Credibility: BlogSpot is not taken seriously. Because hosting and domain are so inexpensive, consumers wonder why a successful, reputable business would team up with a free blogging service. And the truth is – real businesses don’t use BlogSpot.

-Difficult to Remember: A BlogSpot address is cumbersome to share with new contacts and twice as difficult for them to remember. And did you know that many corporate networks now ban BlogSpot sites because the content in many of them is inappropriate and are simply Splogs (Spam Blogs).

-Hard to find: Despite being owned by Google, BlogSpot sites are not featured in Google searches as prominently as real web sites or blogs. BlogSpot sites are indexed less frequently by the search engine spiders. Google ranks sites on many factors and ‘authority’ is a major one. And having a BlogSpot domain is the opposite of authority.

-BlogSpot is like renting. No matter what you do to improve your BlogSpot site, you don’t own it. BlogSpot can shut down your site for any reason at any time. They have total control and reap any long term benefits of your hard work. Why invest time and money into bringing traffic and long term visitors to someone else’s site?

-Freedom: Features for BlogSpot are less than 10% of what’s available on blogs like Wordpress. Once you see what you can do with Wordpress, you’ll feel a little like your BlogSpot site is a car with no air conditioning, manual windows, and no radio! Wordpress is faster, more efficient, more attractive – and far more profitable.

Domino's: How One YouTube Video Can Ruin a Brand

Posted by Mahmood Bashash | Friday, April 17, 2009 | | 0 comments »

In terms of its social media presence, Domino's Pizza gets a lot of things right. It has a YouTube Channel, a Twitter account, and both a Facebook and MySpace profile.

What Domino's could not plan for, however, was that two of its employees at a North Carolina franchise would use YouTube to broadcast a rather disgusting video that would severely damage the company's brand. Since the video first appeared, Domino's has quickly stepped up its social media presence in order to regain some positive momentum.

The video, which, among other things, features an employee who farts and sneezes on a sandwich, was viewed over 500,000 times. For now, the video has disappeared from YouTube, but you can still see a full version of the employees exploits here.

6 Twitter Tips to Get Your Blog Buzzing

Posted by Mahmood Bashaash | Saturday, March 28, 2009 | 0 comments »

twitter_logo.jpgTwitter ( www.twitter.com ) is a social networking tool that is attracting new members daily. Twitter is free, quick and necessary for your blogging success. Short messages (called "tweets") are sent to your followers when you choose to send them. I use Twitter to promote my blogs and to find other people who share my interests. I have used Twitter to revive dead blogs and to jumpstart new ones. You can't beat Twitter when it comes to getting instant traffic to your blog (when you use it right).

Here are 6 tips to get your blog busy:

1. Connect and network with others that share your interests. This can help with link exchanges or getting traffic for your blog. Use the "search" feature and find others that are tweeting about things that interest you or are relevant to your blog topic. Follow them and they will most likely follow you back. (I spend about 20 minutes a day searching for and following people.)

2. Be unique and give value to the Twitter community. Let your personality show in what you say, and also let it show in your blog. You also need to be careful of what you tweet - one tweet rattled off in anger can truly damage your reputation and make you lose followers.

3. Promote your Twitter link. Many people use Twitter, so simply put your link in email signatures and in forum signatures - your list of followers will grow quickly. I have found that putting a Twitter link in your forum signature and then giving informative posts in a forum will guarantee people will follow you.

4. Be consistent with your tweets, but not too chatty. I make sure I send out tweets at least a few times a week - less on weekends, more during the week - and I don't get too talkative. I want people to look forward to my tweets, not groan when they see I have said something new.

5. Ask good questions. Asking a thought-provoking or controversial question with a link to your blog is a great way to get people to participate. Make sure you suggest in your tweet that people answer the question by making a comment on your blog. If you have a poll, send a tweet announcing the results - along with another link to your blog.

6. Be generous when you tweet. Become an asset to the Twitter community. Along with promoting your blog, make sure you participate in the other activity going on by answering questions and commenting on other blogs. I always answer any replies I have to something I post. I also ask questions or congratulate people when their tweets warrant it. It helps me be a welcome addition to the Twitter community.

Twitter is a great tool that can produce fast results when used properly - so get started now!

9 Little Known Search Engine Traffic Tips You May Not Be Aware Of!

Posted by Mahmood Bashaash | Wednesday, March 25, 2009 | 0 comments »

The internet is an ever expanding space where more and more websites are coming into business every day. Apart from this, it is also getting more and more difficult for a new website to gain a good position in the top search engines. However, you can get the best out of the search engines through search engine optimization.

Given below are a few tips which will help you get the best of search engines.

1. Page optimization:

The first thing that you need to take care of in order to get good results on the search engine pages is great content. If your website has the best kind of content, it is sure to receive great results. Do not put up mediocre content on your website because it will do no good for your business.

2. If you want your website to be a successful one, you need to go for an easy, clear navigation system. If your website is a large one, try to separate it into several sections so that a visitor is able to navigate through it properly.

Proper arrangement is very important if you want to retain good rankings in search engines.

3. Thorough keyword research is very important for good rankings. Maintain a decent keyword density in your content in order to receive top rankings.

4. Once you get to know the keywords which have the greatest demand, use them in the titles of your articles and the headings in order to receive huge search engine traffic. Use the keywords cleverly and do not overcrowd your content with the most popular keywords because it would often backfire on you!

5. Establish relevant links to your pages. Link only to sites whose content is relevant to yours, so that a visitor gets to a page which is related to your website or topic.

6. Although much importance is not given to it, off page optimization is also equally important for search engine optimization. The first thing that you need to worry about is the links. Link only to websites which are relevant to your page. Also, link only to websites which have a good quality.

Linking to relevant and good websites will increase your demand and credibility, which, in turn, will fetch you better search engine results.

7. Submitting to directories is another important traffic tactic. There are certain directories which will accept your submissions for free but there are some others which will charge you a certain amount of listing fee. In case there you find a directory which wants a reciprocal link, avoid going for it unless you think that it will benefit your website greatly.

8. If you promote your website actively, you are sure to get good search engine results. You can drop in your articles to article banks. You can also giveaway articles to those who accept it in exchange of a linkback.

9. Social networking is also a great way of making your site better and achieving higher results in search engines. However, be sure to abide by the rules of the social networking sites in order to ensure that the website owners do not take any action against you.

No, it is not April 1st yet. The British government is proposing that Twitter is to be taught in primary (elementary) schools as part of a wider push to make online communication and social media a permanent part of the UK's education system. And that's not all. Kids will be taught blogging, podcasting and how to use Wikipedia alongside Maths, English and Science.

The draft plans were due to be published next month, but have leaked early to The Guardian. Children will also learn "fluency" in handwriting and keyboard skills, and how to use a spellchecker. Luckily they will still be taught how to spell themselves, rather than rely on Mr Clippy.

It's a big overhaul of current thinking. Children will no longer be absolutely required to study the Victorians or the Second World War, as Teachers get a much freer hand in what goes on in the classroom in the biggest changes to primary schooling in a decade.

Traditional education in areas like phonics, the chronology of history and mental arithmetic remain but modern media and web-based skills and environmental education now feature.

The plans were drawn up by Sir Jim Rose, the former Ofsted chief, appointed by ministers to overhaul the primary school curriculum, and are due to be published next month.

Do You Really Need to Setup a Blogging System?

Posted by Mahmood Bashaash | Wednesday, March 25, 2009 | 0 comments »

In order to start off a popular blog, you need nothing. It is absolutely free! All you need to do is set up an account with either blogspot.com or Wordpress.com and then start writing. However, if you have some extra bucks to spare and you are willing to launch yourself big, you can go for getting hold of some tools which will make you a more successful blogging guru.

The first tool that will help you a lot is the keyword research tool. There are many variants of these available in the market, but you need to buy one that would suit your purpose best. Some of these are free while others come at a hefty price of $500.

One of the most popular keyword research tools is WordTracker, which comes at a price of $45 per month. You can also get the trial version for free. This tool basically helps you understand which keywords are in demand and which are not.

You can also go in for a thumbnail generator in case you are looking at adding Adsense ads into your blog. These generators are very useful because with them, you will be able to get a code which, when put in your blog, will generate pictures of the related searches from Google. This means that the click thru rate of your ads will increase!

The thing is that you can start off a blog without spending a penny. However, in case you want to add great accessories to it and make it even more profitable, you will need a few extra bucks. The blog tools make your blog a better one and also make it easier for you to walk the path of great success.

When you are blogging seriously, make it a point to write regularly and consistently so that your readers can rely on you.

In case you want to go that extra mile and develop an insanely successful blog, if you really dream that big, you can go for a blogging system.

So what is a blogging system? Well, basically it is a set of definitive guidelines about running a blog. This set of guidelines is immensely helpful because they are detailed and they give you an edge in the competitive world of blogging. It is a blogging manual per excellence. So in case you really want to know a lot about blogging and make a great impression on your readers, go ahead and get hold of the blogging system.

Once you set up your blog and the readers start pouring in, hire a few individuals who will help you out with regular posts. These individuals need to be responsible men and women who will take the duty of posting regularly and spreading the word.

When you hire people, you need to oversee what they are doing and how they are conducting your business. Remember that you are the one who needs to control the reins of the blog.

With time and effort, your blog will improve and you will become a great success in the blogosphere.

Why Advertising Is Failing On The Internet

Posted by Mahmood Bashaash | Monday, March 23, 2009 | 0 comments »

The following is a guest post by Eric Clemons, Professor of Operations and Information Management at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In it, he argues that the Internet shatters all forms of advertising.  "The problem is not the medium, the problem is the message, and the fact that it is not trusted, not wanted, and not needed," he writes. The views he expresses are his own, and we present them here to foster debate.  (Obviously, we hope there is a place for advertising on the Internet since it pays our bills).

1. There Must Be Something Other Than Advertising:

The expected drop in internet advertising revenues this year was neither unpredictable nor unpredicted, nor was it caused solely by the general recession and the decline in retail sales.  Internet advertising will rapidly lose its value and its impact, for reasons that can easily be understood.  Traditional advertising simply cannot be carried over to the internet, replacing full-page ads on the back of The New York Times or 30-second spots on the Super Bowl broadcast with pop-ups, banners, click-throughs on side bars.  This might be a subject where considerable disagreement is possible, if indeed, pushed ads were still working in traditional media. Mostly they have failed. One newspaper after another is going out of business across the United States, and the ad revenues of traditional print media, even of highly respected magazines, is declining. The ultimate failure of broadcast media advertising is likewise becoming clear.

Nielsen Online, an analytics firm that tracks time spent online at various websites, has issued a report finding that throughout 2008 social networking sites and blogs saw more time spent by users than personal email. While not shocking, the finding does mark an important point in the history of the web.
Youth watchers have long argued that for young people, email is how you communicate with elders in formal situations, while social networks and SMS are the preferred method of communication among peers. Nielsen found, however, that Facebook in particular saw greater growth among older people than it did among the young.

Single Google Query uses 1000 Machines in 0.2 seconds

Posted by Mahmood Bashaash | Saturday, March 07, 2009 | | 0 comments »

Google is normally quite secretive about their search infrastructure but, in a break from tradition, they have revealed that a single search query on Google can consume the processing power of 1000 machines.
Google Fellow Jeff Dean, in a keynote talk at WSDM 2009, shared some numbers about Google’s impressive growth run from 1999 to 2009. According to Dean, while both search queries and processing power have gone up by a factor of 1000, latency has gone down from around 1000ms to 200ms. Crawler updates now take minutes compared to months in 1999.
